From Blog to Podcast: My Unexpected Journey

(This was written 2/13/2026, updates at the end!)

I started blogging days ago.

Days.

On a whim, really. A suggestion. A nudge I decided to follow instead of overanalyze.

Yesterday around 7pm, I submitted a piece I had been blogging about. I didn’t strategize. I didn’t craft a five-year plan. I didn’t polish it into exhaustion. I just sent it.

Honestly? I wasn’t expecting anything.

At 8am the next morning, I had an email.

They accepted the submission.

And not only that — they wanted to interview me on their podcast.

I blinked.

Then I read it again.

Then I read it again.

They told me to schedule the interview and warned it can take months to get in. I clicked the scheduling link expecting to scroll through February, March, maybe April.

There was one slot.

That day.

11am.

Two hours from that moment.

Nothing else for two months.

I assumed I misunderstood. I thought this must be an interview to see if I’d be interviewed. Some kind of screening. “Take it or leave it” energy. So I took it. Of course I took it.

I signed up. I straightened my house. I prepared notes. I reminded myself to breathe.

At 11am, I logged into Zoom.

And there was the face of the company.

Prepared.

Recording setup ready.

This wasn’t a pre-interview.

This was it.

So we did it.

I tried to slow down because I was so thrilled it was happening and also nervous and maybe a little rambl-y. I was passionate about the subject. I wanted to sound grounded. Conversational. Not like someone who just got launched into something she started four days ago.

And then it was done.

At the end he said, “Oh, you grabbed the cancellation — that’s great.”

There had been a last-minute cancellation that morning.

That’s why it was the only slot for the next two months.

I didn’t even scroll past March.

I just clicked yes.

And suddenly I went from:

“Maybe I’ll try blogging.”

to

Published.

to

On a respected podcast.

In less than 24 hours.

I feel like I have spiritual whiplash. In the best possible way.

The universe just stacked coincidences so fast I can’t even line them up in order.

And here’s the thing.

I don’t know how I sounded.

Maybe I was brilliant.
Maybe I rambled.
Maybe they’ll scrap it.

It doesn’t matter.

Because THAT just happened.

I moved.

I said yes.

I didn’t wait until I felt qualified or strategic or positioned.

And something opened.

I don’t know what this means long term. I don’t know if this is momentum or a one-off gift.

But I do know this:

When you follow the nudge without demanding guarantees, sometimes doors swing open faster than your nervous system can adjust.

I’m still catching up to what just happened.

And whatever happens next — whether this grows into something bigger or remains a beautiful blip — I’m grateful I didn’t hesitate.

Because obedience feels lighter than control.

And sometimes the cancellation you didn’t know existed was meant for you.

Update: THE PUBLICATIONS ARE OUT!! I just love that this whole thing happened at all. The fact that the podcast isn’t mortifying but actually came out okay (if I do say so myself)…

Lowercase PTSD: Why emergency staff are still hypervigilant

Love. Amy. Published. Podcasted. “As published on Kevinmd.com…” okay… I’m going to chill now. 😉
